PROJECT SELECTION GUIDE
NACS Connector Selection Factors
Start with the charging mode, then confirm the electrical rating, cable configuration, operating environment, and charger-side integration requirements.
Project Type Selection Focus Key Questions Information to Prepare
DC fast charging equipment Rated current and voltage, charging profile, cable specification, and temperature monitoring What operating current, charging duty cycle, cable length, and ambient conditions must the connector support? Charger output, charging profile, required cable length, installation layout, and target certification
AC charging equipment Rated current and voltage, cable length, cable entry, and equipment configuration What AC rating is required, and how will the cable assembly connect to and route from the EVSE? Electrical rating, cable length, EVSE drawing or cable-entry details, and target certification

FAQ
Common Questions
  • Can the same NACS connector and cable assembly be used for both AC and DC charging?

NACS uses the same interface and power contacts for AC and DC charging, but the connector and cable assembly must be configured for the intended charging mode. Rated voltage and current, conductor size, temperature monitoring, cable construction, and charger-side connections should be confirmed separately for each project.

  • What determines compatibility with NACS-equipped vehicles?

The connector provides the physical and electrical interface to the vehicle. Successful charging also depends on the EVSE output, communication protocol, control system, and system-level validation. Workersbee can support connector and cable assembly configuration, while the EVSE manufacturer remains responsible for validating compatibility with the intended vehicles.

  • Can an existing EV charger be converted to use a NACS cable assembly?

A NACS cable assembly can be evaluated for compatible charger retrofit projects. The review should cover electrical ratings, communication and control, temperature monitoring, cable termination, mechanical installation, and the charger’s certification requirements. Charger drawings and existing cable details help determine whether the conversion is practical.

  • What information is needed to configure a NACS connector and cable assembly?

Please provide the charging mode, rated voltage and current, expected charging profile, cable length, operating environment, charger-side connection requirements, and target market. EVSE drawings, cable-routing details, and existing termination specifications can help Workersbee evaluate the appropriate connector and cable assembly configuration.
